I was recently asked for the steps that you should take to ensure the safe transfer of a document from the Pages application on a Mac to a PC using a memory stick. Here’s what I wrote …

The most important thing to do is to format the Memory Stick as FAT-32 – link here
that will enable the memory stick to be read on both a Mac and a Windows PC.
If the documents are to be edited then it will be best to save them on the stick in a format that can be edited, so I would suggest you use the Export to Word option. That should save the document as a .docx file which can be read in Word, LibreOffice, OpenOffice and of course back into Pages.
If the documents are just to be archived, for reference purposes, then saving as a PDF is fine, and is to be recommended as that will make them less easy to subsequently change.
      Hope this is of help/interest.
