This is interesting and potentially of great importance. The EU, in many ways, leads the way in technology regulation. For instance Apple have been forced to drop their Lightning connector in favour of USB-C worldwide because they don’t want to have to produce a separate model for the EU, and another for the rest of the world. Now they’ve turned their attention to batteries, and not just user-replaceable batteries, but legislating on environmental grounds as well. An interesting read – https://appleinsider.com/articles/23/07/13/new-eu-regulations-mandate-user-replaceable-batteries-in-apple-products – whether you’re an Apple user or not. This could really shake-up the industry.
