No doubt you’ve been as annoyed as I have been with the commercials on ITV advertising the “freshest streaming service on TV”. Well I decided to investigate yesterday and found out that all the content that’s on Britbox has been wrapped up into ITV X.
We took out a subscription to Britbox (£5.99 a month) last year, or maybe the tear before, and I found that you can upgrade from Britbox to ITV X Premium (no advert service) for £3.99 a month until the end of this year, and then continue at £5.99 a month, or £59.99 a year, afterwards – or cancel at any time.
What was annoying to me was that I took out the ITV X Premium service before I realised there was a deal. So don’t make the same mistake. Go to Britbox, go to cancel your subscription – you will be offered the deal (as above) with 7-days free trial, then go to ITV X and use the token provided to get the deal.

I find ITV X confusing, there was & still is the ITV Hub, streaming / catch up service available on some Set Top Boxes and Smart TVs, Then ITV X arrived in December 2022.
My Android TV updated the ITV Hub to ITV X, My Google TV Dongle did likewise, whilst my Humax and TalkTalk Set Top Boxes still show ITV Hub.
Some new programme releases are on ITV X but not on ITV Hub, I suspect they are just playing a game of confusion, prior to a further Monetising attempt.

As I understand it, ITV X will not work on older (no idea of how old, and probably device dependent) devices. If yours hasn’t upgraded, it could be it won’t! It could be then, that on those devices, neither ITV Hub, or Britbox – which is definitely incorporated into ITV X and on notice to be discontinued – that customers will lose these services.
