ParticipantNot exactly computing in the true sense but something people may find useful or be able to add to.
I believe it is now possible to travel on the Cardiff and Valley rail network lines and get a one third discount using your Cardiff bus pass.
Bus pass holders can benefit from 1/3 off train tickets if travelling on the Cardiff and Valley network after 0930 Monday – Friday and any time at weekends and bank holidays.
N.B.: Previously valid on services arriving at Cardiff Central after 0929. Now only valid from origin station from 0930.You can purchase your ticket from the ticket booth or use the ticket machine (as there often isn’t a ticket booth at the train station!)
This is what I tend to do:-
Select the station you want to go to.
Select ‘Anytime Day Return’
Then before paying select ‘Add Railcard’.
On the Select Railcard page you need to press ‘Next Page’
Select ‘TfW Concessionary bus pass’
Check the price is what you thought you were going to pay.
Select ‘Press here to Pay’
I tend to pay contactless but I think there are other ways of paying.
Here’s a few pictures:

KeymasterThanks Ted, the update on the eligibility time is useful, and much easier to work with. It’s much better to know what time you have to get to the origin station than work out when it’s going to arrive at the destination.
We have electronic Senior Railcards, so neither the TfW Bus Pass card, nor the Valley Lines cards apply. However, I would encourage folk to look at the TfW app. I find that buying the tickets electronically before I leave home much less stressful than trying to do it on the platform, perhaps with someone either ahead or behind me. Carrying the ticket on my phone I feel quite a “switched-on” OAP, and I smile inwardly at those with paper tickets.
PS Can I put a plug in for the Cardiff Bus app which is very, very good too!

KeymasterI’ve added another post to this thread, comparing my experience of using the app on my phone, to using the ticketing machine. I obviously should have read Ted’s post again, on the station, before trying to use the machine, but one doesn’t think to open a blog on a station, does one? This is what I experienced … I can’t believe is unique.
A couple of years ago, I found the on-station ticket machines difficult to use, as I was unsure when I should apply a concession card. So, I started using the app on the phone, and generally have found it good as it integrates planning with purchase and displays different costs with different trains and railcards. All good information to help to make decisions and purchases.
Yesterday, I just missed a train, so I thought I’d try the new machine at the station to see if it was better. It was. Much clearer. But … where do I provide the info on my concession card?
It is in the logical place, for the use case, ie at the purchase screen, but what is required is an info. box on the start-up screen, or something on the box itself to advise you of that. With old machine thinking in my head I kept on going backwards and forwards through screens thinking I’d forgotten to add my railcard. A simple addition in the instructions on how to use the system would obviate the problem.

KeymasterA bit more info. on using the bus pass as a concessionary card.
A member of the Photography Group yesterday attempted to use the card for a trip to Newport, thinking it was valid for the whole of Wales. It is not. Just the Cardiff & Valleys lines and some specific services, eg Heart of Wales line, where you can even travel for free in winter.
