Motion Photos
This is a feature with my Pixel phone which I haven’t come across before, except on other people’s phones. It is when the phone sometimes records a very short section of video before and after a shot is taken. Such images have the extension .MP.JPG . It is quite amusing when viewing such a photo on my phone, but there is a minor problem when looking at them along with other images on my laptop. That is that they use up roughly twice as much memory to no purpose, as the photo stays static.
I have just started investigating this, and I have found that I can in fact turn off the video in the phone, but I rather like it, for now.
Another option I’ve found is to open the file with my Paint Shop Pro. A message pops up to say ‘The document’s colors were converted to the working space’. Clicking on ‘OK’, which I would do anyway, seems to remove the video component along with the other changes, so reducing the memory used by about half.
Does it matter though? Maybe it’s just me.
