I frequently get sent videos on whats-app from my family, which I struggle to access and watch on my LG phone with limited memory.
My first thought was to get a better phone with more memory/storage capacity, but my 32″TV is at least 12 years old, and I wondered if I replaced it with a 43″Smart TV, could I access whats-app and messenger on it,to see my family videos on a decent size screen. I have no desire to access emails from a tv,or talk with the family. The IPad is fine for that. I am with Sky and get my broadband, line rental and SkyQ TV from them. Any views?

First thing David – WhatsApp (as an app) is restricted in the platforms you can view it in – you’ll remember there’s no app for the iPad for instance. However if your Smart TV (if you purchase one) has a web browser – they usually do – then you can open that and use the web access version of WhatsApp.

The same would go for Messenger (urggh – Fb) – you could access that through a web browser.

Thanks David for advise. I will wait until Mr Lewis re-opens, and seek his advise on a suitable TV.

You may recall my advice on TVs is not to go TOO Smart as the apps have a nasty habit of not lasting as long as the TV platform. This gets upgraded and apps disappear!

I would recommend looking at a great viewing experience linked to a streaming box. Your Skybox might provide this, or alternatively looking at Apple TV or Roku (the platform used by Now TV).
